For many, the attraction of WordPress as a cms (content management system) used to power a website, is the easy management that it offers those with zero coding skills. Anyone, regardless of technical ability, can set-up and maintain their own simple website. However, achieving the right look that fits with and compliments your company branding, can often require a dash of extra presentational polish and it’s at this point that ley-users can come unstuck.
When modifying WordPress themes, it’s important to test your modification on all platforms and operating systems, to ensure that the changes you intend to make are cross browser compatible. Even minor changes can be less straight forward than one initially imagines.
Still, that’s more about coding and as you’ve chosen WordPress for the very reason that you didn’t need to get involved with the coding, perhaps that’s not the greatest concern. Images on the other hand are a different story.
Most themes offer the chance to set your own header images, icons, colours and a whole raft of other visual elements to create the look you want. The trouble is that if you’re not proficient with graphics and image editing software such as Adobe’s Illustrator or Photoshop you may just be limited to creating your site using what ever graphic you can cobble together from the results of Google images searches.
The result can be disappointing, and lack a consistent look and feel which is normally present in all good web design.
